is stepping into the spotlight once again in Ryan Murphy’s highly anticipated Netflix miniseries,
*Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story*.
Despite his growing fame, Chavez revealed that he had little knowledge of the Menéndez brothers prior to his audition for the role of Lyle Menéndez, among the brothers one was convicted of murdering their parents in 1989.
In an interview with *Entertainment Weekly*, Chavez shared that before preparing for the part,
he hadn’t heard of the Menéndez brothers or their infamous crime.

The actor, born nearly a decade after the murders, relied heavily on research and conversations with people who lived through the trial to understand the case.
Chavez also opened up about the challenges of playing Lyle, particularly one scene involving the fitting of Lyle’s wig, which served as a symbolic element.
“The wig represented the mask Lyle wore to the world – the perfect version of himself that he wanted everyone to perceive,” Chavez explained.
“It was something his father imposed on him, which made that scene incredibly interesting and tough to perform.”
In the Monsters: Lyle & Erik Menéndez Story*, Alexander Chavez stars alongside the Cooper Koch, plays as Erik Menéndez.
The miniseries also features Chloë Sevigny as Kitty Menéndez, Javier Bardem as José Menéndez, and Nathan Lane as journalist Dominick Dunne.
